One Year of XboxFighters
It all started as a joke. A joke on the r/SamuraiShodown subreddit about starting a tournament for Xbox players. With six players and a penchant for weird names and a strange admiration for David Hasselhoff, the first XboxFighters Samurai Shodown Thingie took place on the first on September, 2019. It was a small, impromptu event. The Discord server for it was about 7 people strong when the first event took place. The XboxFighters community was born.
Now, one year later, we have more than 200 members and have had around 40 tournaments in 9 different games. With every event we grew bigger and better. We have built an engaging community from all around the world, something I am very happy with. Not every event was smooth sailing. Lobbies crashed almost every time, oftentimes multiple times during one night. We ran with it and embraced it as a part of the experience. Not a part we want to have around, but we have nonetheless.
I have learned so much from playing against wonderful people like Warriorshift, Krissrock and TD. They kicked my ass, but I learned a lot. Now, they still kick my ass, but at least I can punch back a little. (Seriously, how do I Gief?) I infected TD with my love for KOF, now he is a scary Clark player who will throw me around like nothing.
I want to thank you. I thank each and every one of you who made the community what it is. I have met wonderful people during that year. People who grew very close to my heart. We have something special here.
